Lisa Dyvig, performer and teacher
Lisa Dyvig began her music studies at the age of 10 in the Issaquah, WA public schools, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Washington. She was the first prize winner of the Washington State Solo Contest in 1996. Lisa has been principal viola of the Olympia Symphony since 2011, and is also a member of Symphony Tacoma and the Auburn Symphony Orchestra.
Lisa has been teaching private violin and viola lessons since she was in the 9th grade. She is a registered Suzuki violin and viola teacher, but also teaches traditional lessons to students who began their studies in the local school strings programs, as well as to students who are transferring from violin to viola. Viola students of Lisa have been first place finishers at the district solo contests and have gone on to compete and earn superior ratings at the Washington State Solo Contest.
In addition to the teacher training she has received through the Suzuki program, Lisa feels that keeping her own playing at a very high level contributes to her love of and success as a private teacher.
